Lobby cards were born with cinema in the 1910s to sway the would-be spectator in the cinema lobby.

The first Egyptian lobby cards appeared in the 1930s. Instead of printed images, they featured a real photograph glued on a cardboard printed with an extract from the movie poster and the credits.

Selection for this work was based on the historic or artistic value of each card. On both counts, the 1960s were a turning point.
